Greetings to Ansteorra,
**How does the Volunteering at Gulf Wars work? and what about the
Volunteer War Point?
**Here's how a typical volunteer scenario will work:
Lady Jane Smythe arrives at Gulf Wars, gets settled in and decides to spend
some time volunteering.
First, she needs to swing by the Volunteer Point and set signed up.
Volunteer Point's tent is located on the area known as Gulf Wars
'Downtown'. It's the location where the Heralds Point, A&S tents and
Information tent are located along the road on the grassy lawn, between the
merchants and the battle fields. Once at Volunteer Point, Lady Jane will
fill out a master volunteer form and it will be placed in the binder for
her kingdom, in our case Ansteorra. Before she leaves Volunteer Point,
Jane picks up a few extra volunteer slips of paper (a 2.5 x 4 paper, called
a 'CHIT'), in case the department heads have run out at the locations she
volunteers at. These CHITS are used by the department heads to validate
the hours Volunteers work.
There will be a poster/roster at Volunteer Point of areas that are in need
of Volunteers. Lady Jane will select a few and head off into those
directions to begin doing her service for the war. She begins by helping
at Gate (Troll) for a few hours. The Gatekeeper Coordinator explains her
duties, and Lady Jane begins helping other new arrivals get registered for
Gulf Wars. When Lady Jane completes her shift, the Gatekeeper will give
Jane a CHIT that they have signed, and Lady Jane will continue on her way.
In the afternoon, Lady Jane has agreed to help Marshal at the Rapier
tourney. Once at the field, Jane checks in with the Marshal-in-charge,
shows her Marshal authorization card, and begins her shift of marshalling.
At the end of the tourney, Lady Jane will collect another CHIT from the
Marshal-in-charge and heads back to camp for dinner.
Along her way, Jane will stop by the Volunteer Point tent and drop off her
daily CHITS. Jane's CHITS will be tallyed to her master volunteer form
she filled out her first day, and stapled to the back of it. The master
volunteer form for Jane, has a line that will allow her to designate where
her share of the profits for the Gulf Wars is to be designated, based on
her volunteer hours earned. Jane decides to designate a split between the
kingdom of Ansteorra and her barony. The volunteer coordinator will
then give Jane a set of raffle-tickets for each set of 2hrs volunteered.
Jane will take one half of the 2-part tickets and drop them into the
**Ansteorran** bucket (which is where the 2 War points are tallied), and
keeps the other half of the tickets for the Prize raffle on Saturday night
after Grand Court. She is hoping to win something nice.
**I hope that helps to explain how the volunteer points and process works.
Department heads (Marshals-in-charge, Waterbearers, A&S Judges, etc) should
have CHITS available, but in case they run out, you can carry some extras.
To make it a bit easier for you, Ansteorra has two co-deputy Volunteer
Coordinators in the Ansteorran camp, that can provide you extra blank CHITS
for you to have your department heads sign when you volunteer. Or the
Ansteorran Volunteer Coordinators can take your CHITS from you those you
have already filled out and had signed, and we will drop them off at the
Volunteer Point.
Mistress Xene Theriane from Elfsea will be on site from Monday through
Saturday, and Mistress Hillary Greenslade from Stargate will be on site
from Thursday through Sunday, to assist any of you with Volunteering
issues, provide you extra CHITS and take your completed ones to the
Volunteer Point. Any CHITS we turn in will be donated to the Ansteorran
War point, and any raffle tickets taken will be used to claim prizes for
the Crown of Ansteorra to use as largess, for prizes or as donated items to
raise funds at Kingdom Auctions. If you want to keep your own
raffle-tickets to collect your own prizes, you will have to trek down to
Volunteer Point yourself, it's too difficult for us to keep your
raffle-tickets separate.
To make it more convenient, there will be a volunteer drop lockbox, located
somewhere near a main entrance at the Ansteorran Camp. You can deposit
your CHITS or raffle-tickets into it and they will be collected for you by
the Ansteorran team.
If you have any questions on the process, please don't hesitate to ask.
Yours in Service,
Mistress Hillary Rose Greenslade, Co-deputy Ansteorran Volunteer
Coordinator
along with Mistress Xene Theriane, Co-deputy Ansteorran Volunteer
Coordinator
