WHAT IS THE ARTISAN'S SHOWCASE?

(formerly known as the Laurels Prize Tourney)

Since the title of Laurels Prize Tourney has often been misunderstood, it has been changed. In the past, the question has often been asked as to exactly what the Laurels Prize Tourney (now Artisan's Showcase) is supposed to be. Here is an explanation of the Artisan's Showcase. The purpose is to have artisans at every level (excepting Laurels) display their works. All artisans are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

If you are not familiar with an Artisan's Showcase, this is basically how it works. You, as the artisan, bring your best work to show. Laurels will come to see your work and many will bring small tokens with them to place by those works they deem worthy. We would also like to strongly encourage all Laurels to support our fledging artisans and to bring small tokens for this purpose. It would be helpful to have a business card to hand out in case someone wishes to contact you later.

Laurels will ask you, the artisan, about your work. If you have documentation, you might want to bring it with you so that you can give the Laurels, as well as other interested artisans, information about your work. We will have paper available for note taking, but you may wish to bring a notebook of your own so that you can record comments made by Laurels and others. It would also be helpful to have a business card to leave with the artisan in case s/he wishes to contact you later.

We have changed the name from Laurels Prize Tourney because of the confusion in the past. It is not for Laurels insofar as showing works; it is not a "competition" and it is not a "tourney." It is a showcase for all artisans to display their works of art so they can be recognized and to share their expertise with Laurels and members of the populace.
