Greetings and Welcome,

The Canton of Lindenwood will be hosting the Ansteorran Dance and Music
Symposium in conjunction with Midsummer's Ball on June 26, 2004, at the
University of Texas in Arlington.

The Ansteorran Dance and Music Symposium:

The Symposium is dedicated to furthering the practice of, and research into,
the dancing and music arts of the Renaissance. The Symposium is open to
anyone who practices, teaches, or who is otherwise interested in the art,
music, history, reconstruction, or performance or theory of period dancing
and music styles.

The Symposium, in essence, is to provide a dance and music focused forum
wherein we can exchange ideas and sources. Anyone with an interest in
period dance and music, regardless of talent or skill, is welcome to join
and participate!

The Symposium includes European dance, Middle Eastern dance, and Music
classes, organized by Lady Melissent d'Aulnay the Capricious
(cshenry at ev1.net). Also, please welcome special guest instructor Honorable
Lady Alina of Foxwood, European Dance Mistress from the Barony of Cynnabar,
Middle Kingdom.

Honorable Lady Elin the Timid has organized a proceedings for the symposium
that will be available at the gate. Lady Lowrie Leulyn has organized a
compact disk collection of music that will also be available at the gate.

The Ansteorran Guild of European Dancers will be voting to change their
bylaws and elect a proctor in the afternoon. Contact the Guild Proctor Lady
Melissent d'Aulnay the Capricious for more information.

Midsummer's Masque:

You are invited to come dressed as part of ‘The Hunt’ – be that of a hunter
or his lady or part of the flora and fauna of the woods. Honorable Lady
Monica de la Cueva will be teaching a flora of the woods mask making class
in the afternoon for a $5 class fee. Contact her at Jadeiztl at aol.com to
reserve a place.

An evening sideboard created by Lady Sunnifa Eiriksdottir will complement
your dinner of choice as you enjoy the European Ball run by Philip White,
gaming run by Her Excellency Steppes Baroness Valeria Richila Navarro, and a
Middle Eastern Halfla.

The Canton will choose a Master and Mistress of the Hunt who best adapt to
the theme and style of the masque and ball. A Prince and Princess of the
Ball will also be chosen among the youth dancing. In addition to skillful
dancing these people are expected to be courteous and well-mannered. The
Best Masque will also be recognized with a prize.
