The Lord & Lady of Misrule invite one and all to join them in Gotham on the
tavern green for A Festival of Fools, hosted by the Barony of Bjornsborg on
March 30th -April 1st, 2007, at White Water Sports located at 11860 FM 306,
New Braunfels, TX  78132

 

Activities include:

Rapier tournament

Since this is a day of foolery and role reversal, a servant's rapier
tournament will be held.  It will consist of a time limited challenge.
Wounds will be retained, but dead personas will not.  If your servant dies,
then a different one may enter, time provided.   (New persona's must be in
completely different outfits.) 

 

Chivalric PandyBat Tournament

The pandybat is a weapon whose wielding is as likely as not to result in the
demise of the wielder rather than the opponent.  Weapons must meet
tourney-legal standards.  The tournament will be a challenge format; prizes
will be awarded to the victor as well as the wielder of the finest pandybat
(who will, by definition, not be able to win the tourney).  Dare you join
the ranks of the wielders of such fell instruments as the turnpike, the
shieldhook, or the thrusting crutch?

 

Combat Archery Competition

A competition to test the mettle of all comers is the order of the day.  Do
you have the eyes of a hawk?  The 1st & 2nd rounds test distance accuracy.
What exactly do you see down field?  For the 3rd round you will be moving
between pavises.  Be sure to practice that 'tuck and roll' maneuver!  Do you
have nerves of steel?  The 4th round is a Damsel in Distress with moving
targets.  The fair maiden begs for your help and mercy, do you give it?

 

A&S Display

Artisans display either:  1) an item that is documented as having actually
existed in period, but is so unusual or unbelievable that some may believe
it to be false; or 2) a made-up item (w/false documentation) that could pass
for being a real period item.  The populace will be asked to choose their
favorite item they believe to be real, AND their favorite item they believe
to be false.  Prizes awarded to items that best "dupe" the populace.  

 

Gurning Competition

An age old contest matching no one's wits at all.  Prizes for the ugliest
and most comical face pulled.  Rules:  each competitor may pull no more than
2 faces and must hold each face for at least 30 seconds. The winner chosen
by most applause, so if you enter it might be a good idea to bring your
loudest friends....

 

It is not necessary to bring personal pavilions as the tavern green is
surrounded by open seating pavilions.  All tournament info, A&S

Site Fees: $12 for adult; $10 for ages 6-17; 5 and under are free; family
max $36. Nonmember surcharge will apply.  Make checks payable to:  SCA,
Inc., Barony of Bjornsborg. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian.  They may also attend with a 21 year or older adult with a signed
and notarized Minor Event Waiver Form from the parents.  Available on
ACCEPS.   

 

Site opens at 5pm Friday and closes 2pm Sunday.   No Pets Allowed.  Site is
wet.  Period Containers Only.  Consumption of alcohol by minors will NOT BE
TOLERATED. The mundane authorities will be notified of any infractions, and
anyone found to be distributing alcohol to minors will be expelled from the
event. 

 

Directions:

Take best Route to IH 35, and FM 306, in north New Braunfels.  Go west until
you reach site.  Watch for SCA Signs.
