We've talked about tasting tables here before as a way to encourage
more people to try period foods. Here is an announcement from the
Calontir list showing some of their on-going efforts.

> The Taste of Calontir table at Lilies has become a lovely tradition
> – and the participating cooks are thrilled that so many attendees
> are stopping by each year to try to various tastes of period food.
> I wanted to let Calontir know that we will be continuing the
> tradition this year, and currently have four different tables
> planned. We will be featuring an English, French, Italian and
> Viking/Norse table, again under the permanent pavilion by the
> archery at 7pm the first Saturday night.
>
> There will also be something new at the Taste of Calontir table this
> year – a donations jar. Each year our fabulous cooks create dishes,
> tastes of which are shared with hundreds of people, and fund the
> effort out of their own pockets. So this year, we’ll be adding a
> donations jar – and are asking that if you have the ability to do
> so, please drop a few dollars in. Monies collected will be split
> between the tables participating (with a small amount going to the
> guild). These funds will help our cooks continue to feed you the
> delectable morsels that they enjoy cooking and you enjoy eating.

> Looking forward to war!
