[Sca-cooks] Medieval German "whoopie pies"???

I would point out that a batter cake of the type found in whoopie pies is 
produced with chemical leaven and would not be found prior to the late 16th 
Century.  I wouldn't expect to find any prior to the 19th Century.
The filled oblaten mentioned in other missives is a good bet.  Or they may 
be referring to Germkno:del which is a filled yeast dumpling (although the 
filling is usually plum jam).  I know of no recipe or description of 
Germkno:del within SCA period.
